People's National Bank Art Show (1960)
Sunday, December 1, 2019
Today Anacortes, in a historic sense, is mostly known for its two big booms; those being canning and pulp. However there was another boom that occurred in the 1950's that may define today's Anacortes even more than the other two - an artistic boom. Majorly funded by the middle-class women in the area, the Anacortes art scene would really begin to flourish in the 1960's with the creation of the Anacortes Arts and Crafts Festival. The art scene's female roots can be seen in this People's Bank showcase of Anacortes women's art. Without women like this, the flourishing artistic community of Anacortes would be less than a fraction of what it is today.
