[ARCHIVED] Anacortes Parks' Plan To Trap Invasive Hornets

Anacortes Parks and Recreation staff are working with the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) to place Asian hornet (Vespa mandarinia) traps in the city parks and forest lands.  The traps will operate April through October and will follow the guidelines set up by the WSDA.

The City is reaching out to tribal and non-tribal governmental agencies with open space on Fidalgo Island to create a network of traps in our area.  Volunteer organizations like the Friends of the Anacortes Community Forest Lands and other volunteer organizations are eager to lend a hand monitoring the traps as soon as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
