The sea wall constructed in phase I of the trail showed signs of settling during a recent wind event. This involved large rocks along the top collapsing 2 – 3 feet below their previous level.
As this portion of the trail includes a sewer manhole, a plan to repair the wall is being put into place by the City of Anacortes Public Works Department. Equipment will be stationed near the west end of phase I. Excavation will begin behind the wall to fill voids created by the wave action with larger rocks that will help stabilize the wall for the time being. Work will be done from the trail, and will commence within the next few weeks.
