As part of its waterline replacement program, the City has contracted with Raw Land Construction, Inc. to replace approximately 4800 LF of watermain on Kingsway from Skyline Way to Anaco Beach Road.
The waterline replacement project is scheduled to begin in early April. The work will consist of replacing existing watermain, water services to homes and installing new fire hydrants. The project is expected to be completed in late summer.
Additional notifications will be posted on reader boards and on social media, particularly the Public Works Facebook page at www.facebook.com/AnacortesPublicWorks/
During construction there may be interruptions to some residents' water service. They will receive a minimum advanced notice of 24 hours prior to any scheduled or required shutdowns. In the event of an emergency during construction, it is possible some residents could have an interruption to water service without notice. In this situation, we will be working diligently to restore water service as fast as possible.
Additionally, as the contractor moves from block to block with the work, there will be limited to no on street parking on Kingsway. We understand the inconvenience this may cause. Please understand this allows the contractor to perform the work efficiently and more importantly, it provides for a safer work environment not having to navigate pedestrians and parked cars with their equipment.
Construction will typically be from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday, although construction may be allowed during the late evening hours and weekends if necessary. During construction there will be traffic detours and road closures to allow for the work.
Thank you in advance for your patience during construction as we make these needed improvements to our water system. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jeff Beltramini at 360-293-1936 or jeffb@cityofanacortes.org.
