First Historic Mural Installed by Bill Mitchell (1984)

"The mounting of the first historic mural last week means the Downtown Anacortes Mural Project is under way. The project, one of the 1984 efforts of the new ‘Anacortes Projects for the '80’s’ program, is sponsored by the Anacortes Renaissance and Revival Confederation (ARRC)." —Anacortes American (May 9, 1984) On April 22nd, 2019, Mayor Laurie Gere declared that on May 3, 2019, which is the 35th anniversary of the Anacortes Mural Project, to be Bill Mitchell Day.
