Rudy V. Malland is born (1916)

Known as "The Banjo King of the Northwest," Rudy V. Malland was one of Anacortes' most interesting residents. Serving in the Navy in World War II, he eventually made his way back to Anacortes where he was welcomed with open arms to the community that loved his music. Today he stands outside the Eagles Club, forever memorialized as a mural by the hand of Bill Mitchell.
