General Insurance Requirements

When working by contract for the City of Anacortes there are a variety of insurance requirements that will be detailed in the agreement and will vary by the scope of work, project complexity, risk, and cost. In general, the City requires Automobile Liability insurance covering all owned, non-owned, hired and leased vehicles; Commercial General Liability insurance that covers liability arising from premises, operations, independent contractors, products-completed operations, stop gap liability, personal injury and advertising injury, and liability assumed under an insured contract with an endorsement naming the City of Anacortes as an additional insured; and Workers’ Compensation coverage as required by the Industrial Insurance laws of the State of Washington. Contracts for professional services will also require Professional Liability insurance appropriate to the Consultant’s profession.

All required insurance documents must be received by the City's Legal Department before a contract will be considered active and before commencement of any work.
