Adventure Day at the Library

Celebrate the adventure genre with a day of treasure hunting, pirate escapades, daring escapes, and riddle-solving fun for all ages. Don your adventure gear for our original costume contest, indulge in delectable treats, and discover treasures around every corner at our 7th annual GenreFest. 

The Library will be closed for regular services during this event.

Schedule of Events


2:00 - 5:00 pmAll activities are open and family friendly.
4:00 - 6:00 pmScavenger hunt and maze become more intense.
6:00 - 7:00 pmAll activities end for the adult & teen Costume Contest. 


Costume Contest

For cosplayers, this is your chance to score tickets to Emerald City Comic Con! Here's how:

  1. Make your costume. Costumes must be at least 50% homemade. 
  2. Come to Adventure Day and register before 5:00 pm.
  3. At 6:00 pm, meet at the bottom of the stairs to strut your stuff.

Costumes will be judged for creativity, technical skill, and presentation. You must be present to win.

Prize Info

Participate in activities all day to win one of the incredible prize baskets sponsored by local businesses and Friends of the Anacortes Public Library. Prize entries you earn can be put into the basket drawing of your choice at the Prize kiosk. Winners do not need to be present at the time of the prize drawing, with the exception of the Costume Contest.
