The purpose of a neighborhood meeting is for a developer (aka Applicant) to inform Anacortes citizens about a potential project at an early stage. This meeting is intended to foster communication between the applicant and the public regarding potential issues and opportunities for solutions related to the project. A pre-application neighborhood meeting is not required for every type or size of development, please see AMC 19.20.030 to understand when a pre-application neighborhood meeting is required by Anacortes Municipal Code. When required, the meeting must be held before submitting an application with the City's Planning, Community, and Economic Development Department.
A pre-application neighborhood meeting is hosted and facilitated by the Applicant. A city staff person from the Planning Department will be in attendance to answer any code questions or application process questions that may arise from the public however the City will not be taking public comments or testimony during the pre-application neighborhood meeting.
